The Stranger is my take on the original germanium 1966 Mosrite Fuzzrite, one of the most iconic fuzz tones of all time. It is heavily associate with the Ventures and Iron Butterfly.

the Stranger/Fuzzrite is the most immediately iconic and nostalgic 60s fuzz tone. It’s bright, it’s spitty, it’s liquid, it’s NASTY. It sounds like a psychedelic liquid light show.
I am building these on hand made replica eyelet board in the same layout as the originals. It will be made with top shelf NOS components and will be tuned up against my own vintage unit to ensure proper vintagey magic.
The Stanger will come in two options, Vintage Bypass and True Bypass.
Vintage Bypass is an exact copy of the footswitch wiring on the vintage units. It’s not true bypass, but it’s a clever enough design to have very very little signal loss. This version will come with a mandatory external battery switch just like the originals.
True Bypass option is what it sounds like, it’s true bypass. It does not effect the the fuzz tone in any way. It only effects your bypass tone. This option will come with the input jack style battery switch. This option will also offer the ability to add on a DCjack and/or an LED.
What’s inside:
Built point to point style on a hand cut replica eyelet board.
Vintage new old stock and/or salvaged capacitors intentionally selected for quality and tone
Vintage new old stock and/or salvaged resistors hand selected for performance and aesthetic quality from a mix of vintage Allen-Bradley, Piher, Iskra, and others.
2 carefully matched vintage germanium transistors. Transistors are hand selected by me through a rigorous tuning process. Transistors are chosen based on how they perform in the circuit. I tune all my pedals with integrity to be as close to the originals as possible. I don’t add any modern tweaks to the circuit.
The pedal is wired using the exact signal path as the original units.
High quality hardware including full size alpha pots, Switchcraft Jakcs, and a Carling foot switch.
Housed in a hand painted Hammond 1590P1 distaste aluminum enclosure (6x3.3.x2). Color may vary.
