Mirror (Boss Tone)
The Mirror fuzz is my take on the ‘67 or ‘68 Jordan Boss Tone. The Boss Tone is an extremely unique circuit and one of the earliest silicon based fuzz unit. Its got a bright yet mid focused viola like timbre and very long sustain. Randy California from the band Spirit used these almost exclusively.

I’m offering two variants of the Mirror Fuzz, which I’m referring to V1 and V2
V1 is a clone of the earliest Boss Tones that were made in Alhambra, CA. This one is on the brighter side and has a slight less saturated, yet clearer sound compared to the V2.
V2 is a clone of the 2nd or 3rd generation Boss Tone. Some of these were made in Pasadena and some Music City / Nashville. This one as a slightly darker and fuller tone compared to the V1. It also has more sustain and slightly noisier in general. This one sounds more like Spirit to my ear. This one also features a unique circuit that utilizes both NPN and PNP type transistors with the PNP transistor installed inverted.
Both circuits use both transistors and clipping diodes to create the fuzz effect. I have added an option for a diode clip switch. This mod allows you to remove the diodes out of the circuit with the flip of a switch. This creates a huge volume boost, a reduction in saturation and noise, and better clarity and cleanup potential. The extreme volume boost also allows you to push your amp much harder to get a more intense buzzy like fuzz tone.
